The American Martial Arts Alliance, Mega Weekend in Durham, North Carolina
Durham, NC -- October 19-21, 2007 -- The American Martial Arts Alliance (AMAA) Hall of Fame & Karate Sport League will host the AMAA Hall of Fame Awards Banquet and the second annual Junior Martial Arts Hall of Fame. The American Martial Arts Alliance headquarters is located in Durham, North Carolina. The Executive Director is Grandmaster Jessie Bowen, a former director for the American Martial Arts Association for 25 years. in 2003 founder the American Martial Arts Alliance, LLC. He has been involved in promoting positive sport karate and business management in NC for over 30 years.
The American Martial Arts Alliance, LLC is the first organization in the North Carolina to set up such a gathering and the event will feature guest speakers, Joe Corley, Founder of the Battle of Atlanta, Rob Colasanti, President of NAPMA, Jerome “Magic” Johnson, CEO of T-Software Products, Ginger Gallagher, President MediaFit advertising agency, Allie Alberigo, Senior Consultant of Member Solutions, and Melissa Aznar, CEO of Aznar Enterprise. This unique meeting is held for martial arts school owners and those interested in entering into the business aspect of martial arts to improve their business management skills and learn new effective ways of teaching the martial arts for today’s students. This event will be held at the Harris Incorporates facility on Hillsborough Road in Durham, North Carolina.
Martial artists from all over the country will be honored and recognized for their contribution to the martial arts. The weekend events will kick off on Friday, October 19, 2006 with the AMAA Martial Arts Business Summit. The weekend events are sponsored in part by the American Martial arts Alliance, LLC., Harris Incorporated a distributor for Anheuser Busch, Smith Barney, and Aznar Weaponry.
Saturday October 20, 2007, events will be held at the Durham Marriott Civic Center and will start the AMAA Nationals Karate Championship. The day will start at 10:00 AM with the presentation of championship jackets to the top point winners in the Forms, Fighting and Weapons Competition in 130 divisions for children and adults. The children’s age divisions start at 5 & under up to 17 years old. The adult age divisions of competition are 18 – 35, seniors 40 & up and handy capable divisions for children and adults. Among the competitors will be 11 year old WSKF World Champion Tyler Weaver who is a 6 Time World Sport Karate Federation Champion and a 5 Time National Amateur Grand Champion.
The organization is open for membership to all martial arts styles and systems and allows competitors of all ages and backgrounds to partake in positive martial arts activities. Tournaments allow students to experience healthy competition through individual and group performance.
The primary focus of the American Martial Arts Alliance is to develop discipline, respect, honor, accountability, and leadership through the philosophy of martial arts and to provide services and guidance to foster technical excellence and maintain the highest standards in the martial arts community.
On Saturday evening, October 20, 2007, the AMAA Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at the Marriot Durham Civic Center with a Special Performance by Gospel Recording Artist James Perkins. Over 70 of the top martial artists from all over the country will be honored as AMAA 2006-2007 Hall of Fame Inductees for their contribution and achievements in the martial arts along with hundreds of guests
Sunday October 21, 2007, Grandmaster Gary Alexander will be holding an open seminar. Before Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee, Gary Alexander was the first North American Martial Arts Champion. His dedication to excellence and realism in the martial arts is widely admired and respected. Mr. Alexander is a renowned Grandmaster of Isshinryu Karate who was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1974.
